    It is difficult to assign an early date to a kelim in such sterling condition but this examples displays many of the characteristics of the genre´produced in the 18th century and earlier. The colors are separating into their component parts while the blues are showing a denim effect and the reds and purple are striating. Indeed the purple is closer to grape than aubergine and it is juxtaposed with yellow- another feature of early kelims.
