  • Full Description

a very pre-turkoman Turkic design. Center gul-medallion is especially intriguing. One of the predecessors to the chuval gul is found in the centers of the top and bottom medallions (see image detail). Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of Uzbek, Kirghiz, Aimaq, Kazak, and other Turkic non-Turkoman tribes is the anachronistic nature of their designs; motifs that remained original rather than the refined evolution seen in Turkoman work.
