Full Description
stated date might be conservative; has both aubergine (the only ordinary color in the piece) and brilliant grape. The grape coupled with the juxtaposition of purple and yellow are typical of 18th century work and the quality of the other colors conform to an early date while the scale and aforementioned aubergine do not. Probably first decade of the 19th century. The articulation of the hands in this kelim is sheer poetry. The presence of a couple of cotton hands at one end of the kelim provides a nice touch. Numerous colors and shades of each.
