Info

This is an important document of how Armenian girls and women were helped to support themselves after the displacement from their homelands at the end of the first World War. The textile shows a colourful design in the Ottoman style in handspun cotton. These textiles derive their name from the area they were produced in in southern Turkey, Marash. Our piece found its way to Chicago, where it was displayed in an exhibition organised by a charity in support of Armenian refugees.
